Saints launch audio programmes

Southampton Football Club is launching audio versions of its matchday programmes this season, to make them accessible to a greater number of supporters.

The spoken editions, which will be made available for both our men’s and women’s programmes, will particularly assist blind or partially-sighted fans who may have difficulties reading the traditional, physical publications.

Produced by specially-trained audio description readers, they will be available via major podcast apps on the day of each game and will guide listeners through a host of content, including pre-match notes from the manager, player interviews and much more.

The first edition, for this afternoon’s Premier League match against Leeds United, is now available to download.

The free-of-charge service adds to the club’s range of audio description offerings and is produced in conjunction with our colleagues at Alan March Sport, who also provide a live commentary service for first-team matches at St Mary’s and assist in production of

and the club app.

As part of its drive to continually improve the accessibility of its output, the club also applies image descriptions across its social media platforms and continues to expand the range of video content featuring closed captions.
