THE MATCH

London City Lionesses vs Saints

Barclays Women’s Championship

Princes Park

Sunday 22nd October, 1pm

For ticket information, see below

Saints hit the road on Sunday as they take on London City Lionesses at Princes Park in Dartford, looking to keep their place at the top of the table heading into the international break.

Coming off the back of a 2-1 win against a resilient Durham, momentum will be key against a London City Lionesses side who haven’t started the season as they may have hoped to, following a summer of change.

Crystal Palace, who sit just a point behind Saints with a game in hand, put six past London City last weekend, with an own goal handing Carolina Morace’s side their only consolation. The Lionesses will be hoping to deny Saints the opportunity to do the same.

LAST MEETING

Saints and London City Lionesses met twice last season in the Barclays Women’s Championship, with the first meeting ending in a draw, and the return to St Mary’s seeing a Katie Wilkinson goal securing all three points.

MANAGER’S NOTES

“We’ve had some good results recently, and in this league, it’s important to continue that momentum, especially going into the international break.

“We had some fantastic battles with London City Lionesses last season and they have been in and around those top spots for a few years now.

“Knowing that, we’ll have to start quickly and ensure we’re able to nullify their threats going forward, as well as be clinical in our own.

“Last time we played at Princes Park, we scored a penalty in injury time, and the fans were vital in keeping us going until those last minutes - we know they’ll be just as vocal on Sunday.”
