Head coach Tonda Eckert was keen to stress the importance of returning to winning ways after Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Hull extended Saints’ winless league run to seven matches.

A big week ends with Sunday’s much-anticipated south coast derby at Fratton Park (midday GMT).

DERBY DAY AT ST MARY’S

DATES CONFIRMED FOR LEICESTER MEETINGS

Saints’ two February fixtures with Leicester have both been given confirmed dates and kick-off times.

The Emirates FA Cup fourth round draw paired Saints with the Foxes at St Mary’s, with the tie to be played on Saturday 14th February (3pm GMT).

That means the league trip to Leicester, provisionally scheduled for the same day, has been brought forward to Tuesday 10th February (7.45pm GMT).

WOMEN’S FA CUP CAMPAIGN ENDS IN EXTRA TIME DEFEAT

After battling through extra time, Southampton FC Women exited the Adobe Women's FA Cup at the hands of WSL2 rivals Bristol City.

Michaela McAlonie's clever first-half finish kept Saints in the lead for most of the tie, until Bristol City substitute Emily Syme equalised to take the game to extra time, before adding her second goal in the 117th minute to send the Robins into the fifth round.

Next up for Saints is a return to league action with a long trip to the North East to take on Sunderland on Sunday (2pm GMT).

UNDER-21S MAKE WINNING START TO 2026

Our Under-21s claimed a 1-0 win over Brighton at Staplewood on Friday night, marking a triumphant return to action following their winter break.

Tommy Dobson-Ventura scored the only goal of the game in the first half, leaving Saints fifth in the 29-team Premier League 2 table, just a point adrift of Fulham in second.

Saints will follow up with back-to-back home games at Eastleigh’s Silverlake Stadium, where they will face PSV Eindhoven in the Premier League International Cup on Thursday and West Brom in PL2 on Monday (both 7pm GMT).

UNDER-18S BEATEN AT BIRMINGHAM

Our Under-18s’ first matchday in five weeks ended in a 2-1 defeat at Birmingham on Saturday.

Trailing 2-0 in the first half, Saints did pull a goal back shortly before the interval but were unable to complete the comeback.

Saints host Arsenal in the Under-18 Premier League at Staplewood on Saturday (midday GMT).
