This week @ St Mary's: February 23rd
Check out our latest weekly round-up as we offer you a comprehensive guide of everything that's going on inside Southampton Football Club...
SAINTS HELD BY CHARLTON
Southampton were unable to find another dramatic late winner on their return to Championship action, as they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Charlton.
The first half had ended goalless after 45 minutes where Saints dominated everything but the scoreline, but that was quickly rectified within minutes of the restart when Ross Stewart headed home a deserved opener.
Against the run of play, however, Charlton responded to equalise through Sonny Carey's low driven shot from the edge of the area that set up an intense, feisty final 20 minutes that couldn't produce a winner.
TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR QPR CLASH
Next up for Saints is another home clash with London opposition, as QPR visit St Mary’s on Tuesday night (8pm GMT).
The two teams are now level on points after Rangers’ 3-1 win at Hull on Saturday, with a four-point gap to the play-off places with 13 games to go.
Tickets are on general sale now, priced from £20 for Adults and £10 for Juniors.
Back on the road on Saturday, Saints finish the week with a trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday, whose relegation to League One was confirmed with a 2-1 defeat to city rivals United on Sunday.
FULHAM AND NORWICH DATES CONFIRMED
Saints’ March fixtures against Fulham and Norwich have now been set.
The trip to Craven Cottage in the Emirates FA Cup fifth round will be a midday GMT kick-off on Sunday 8th March, and will be broadcast live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
As a knock-on effect, the Championship clash with Norwich, originally scheduled to take place that weekend, will now be played on Wednesday 18th March (7.45pm GMT).
All previously purchased tickets for the Norwich game will remain valid for the new date. Any queries should be sent in writing via email to [email protected].
MARSDEN STARS ON EARLY DOORS
Episode 15 of Early Doors dropped last week, with Chris Marsden proving to be a hugely popular guest.
The former Saints midfielder joined Matt Le Tissier and Tom Deacon from his home in Cyprus to chat about some of his fondest memories from his five-year stay with the club.
UNDER-21S DEFEAT MIDDLESBROUGH
Our Under-21s claimed a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in Premier League 2 on Friday afternoon.
All three goals came in the first half, with Saints taking a two-goal lead through Brandon Charles and Nick Oyekunle strikes, before Boro replied via Rio Patterson-Powell just before half time.
It was not such a fruitful weekend for our Under-18s, who went down 3-0 at league leaders Chelsea on Saturday.
