A series of impressive results in recent weeks mean Saints now sit 10th in the Premier League table, seven points ahead of opposition Everton in 16th.

In what looked to be Hasenhüttl’s most challenging string of games with Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United following each other in recent weeks, Saints have emerged with an impressive five out of nine points.

Everton will be buoyed by the appointment of Frank Lampard, who looks to have made an immediate impact in Merseyside since his appointment.

Claiming an impressive 3-0 victory over Leeds United last weekend, Lampard will be eager to build a good run of results to see Everton move up the league table. Victory at St Mary’s could see them go as high as 14th.

Nathan Redmond is back in contention for Saints, while Alex McCarthy and Lyanco remain long term absentees. Nathan Tella is expected to return to training next week.

Demarai Gray and Ben Godfrey remain out for the visitors while Vitalii Mykolenko returns.

"Frank [Lampard] has implemented new energy in this team and they are pressing higher, much more active than I have seen them before. With a clear strategy, a clear plan and definitely a different behaviour now, and this is why everyone has been warned it will be a tough game for us."

“There's an argument for going same again, but it's not a statement of fact. Leeds to Southampton, two very good teams in lots of different ways."

A relentless threat for Saints on the attack, the Chelsea loanee leads the way for most goals scored for Saints this season.

Having only made two appearances so far since joining from Manchester United on loan, van de Beek has made an instant impact in the Everton side. Running the show from midfield, his work both on and off the ball will challenge Saints at St Mary’s.
