Following the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, Southampton Football Club has donated £10,000 to the British Red Cross to support the charity’s emergency appeal.

More than 11,000 people have died in Turkey and Syria, following a massive earthquake on Monday, with rescue efforts continuing to search for people in the rubble.

The British Red Cross has launched an emergency appeal to offer first aid to those affected, many of whom have been left without food or shelter.

If you can, we urge you to support by donating to the Red Cross appeal.

Early on Monday morning, while most people were sleeping, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey, devastating parts of the country and neighbouring Syria. It was followed by a series of powerful aftershocks and then a second earthquake later that day, which hit the Elbistan district around 80 miles north of Gaziantep.

Hundreds of buildings have collapsed and thousands of people remain injured in the wake of the quakes.

If you’re able to donate to support aid efforts, information on how and where your money will be used can be found on the British Red Cross donation page.
