We’ve always been about developing talent for the future and that mentality stretches beyond the pitch. It’s why, through our sustainability strategy The Halo Effect, we’ll be joining with millions of others this weekend for Green Football Weekend, to act now for a better tomorrow.

Saints Women’s team play Crystal Palace at St Mary’s on Sunday and if you’re there, you’ll notice we’re promoting environmental awareness.

Wildflower seeds will be given out by our mascots, Sammy and Mary, you’ll find sustainability tips on the screens in the concourse and there’ll be vegan food offerings, discounts and tasters on offer at food stops.

Our women’s team will also be using reusable bottles, car sharing to the game and wearing green armbands.

On Instagram, you’ll find a ‘reel’ of their attempt at the #LayerUpChallenge, which you can give a go to see if you can do any better.

You can do your bit on Sunday too – the Final Straw Foundation has kindly given us some litter pickers and if you’re able, it’d be great if you could grab one from the front of the stands to help us collect rubbish after the game.

And any time you do something green this week, we’d love you to log it on Planet League as part of the Green Football Cup, to bump Saints up the table.

You can find more information about Planet League and how to register on their website.

Make sure to look out for a Green Football Weekend competition being run by our Regional Partner, Voi, on their social media channels this weekend too.

If you want to learn more about The Halo Effect and how we’re trying to help build a sustainable future, you can check out The Halo Effect section on our website.
