Southampton FC Women are delighted to announce the loan signing of midfielder Chloe Peplow from Barclays Women’s Super League side Reading FC.

Peplow started her career at Birmingham City, signing for the Blues at 16, finishing runner-up in the Women’s FA Cup and WSL Cup with the Midlands-based side during her time there.

After a loan spell with WSL2 side Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2017, the midfielder went on to play for Brighton and Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur before permanently signing for Reading in July 2021.

Peplow spent the first half of the 2022/23 season on loan at fellow Barclays Women’s Championship side Crystal Palace, making 7 appearances for the Eagles, including a start against Saints in their first ever Championship win at Selhurst Park.

At international level, Peplow represented England from Under-17 to Under-20 level, taking part in two European Championships, as well as the Under-20 World Cup with the Young Lionesses.

On the newest addition to the Saints squad, Head Coach Marieanne Spacey-Cale commented:

“I’m really delighted that we’ve got this over the line. Chloe is an excellent player who’ll definitely add impact and value to our squad.

“I’m really excited to work with her but I also think she’s looking forward to being in an environment where she can really flourish and be the player that she can be.

On making the loan move to Saints, Peplow commented:

“It feels amazing, I’ve been really welcomed.

“I know Marieanne, I’ve worked with her previously, and as soon as I came down and heard her speak about the infrastructure, the ambition of the club and how integrated the men’s and the women’s teams are, that’s what did it for me.

“I’m super excited to meet all the Saints fans, especially at St Mary’s, and get going.”
