Carabao Cup
St Mary’s Stadium
Tuesday 20 December, 19:45 GMT

THE OFFICIALS

Referee: Jarred Gillett.
Assistants: Neil Davies, Natalie Aspinall.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?

Just his second game in charge since his appointment in November, Nathan Jones will be ready for the test when Lincoln City arrive on the south coast.

Saints have already secured victory over League One competition twice in the Carabao Cup this season, with a 3-0 victory over Cambridge United before being forced to penalties to claim victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Southampton will be looking to secure their place in the quarter final stage of the competition for the first time since 2017, the same year they made it to the final of the competition.

It's been a good run for the visitors in both league and cup competition, having suffered just one defeat in seven matches, including victory over Bristol City in the third round of the competition.

TEAM NEWS

Kyle Walker-Peters could return to the starting XI, having returned from his injury picked up shortly before the mid-season break.

Tino Livramento and Juan Larios have been ruled out of the tie, requiring some more time in training before returning to first team action.

THE MANAGERS

Nathan Jones: “It's a humble group and it's a group that wants to get better. That's the best thing a manager can have. There's obviously things we have to improve on but they want to get better.”

To follow.

The Frenchman could find himself in the starting XI when Saints shape up against Lincoln on Tuesday, with the youngster eager to notch his first goal in a Southampton shirt.

Having previously enjoyed success with neighbouring Eastleigh, the 23-year-old has already scored six goals in 23 appearances for Lincoln since signing in January.
