Southampton will be wearing their green third kit for just the second time this season.

Manchester City will be looking to continue their already impressive start to the 2022/23 season, hoping to regain their place at the top of the Premier League table.

With an emphatic 6-3 victory over Manchester rivals United last time out in the league, as well as a 5-0 midweek victory in the Champions League, Guardiola’s side will be a certain threat to the Saints defence.

While Manchester City’s strength is undeniable, Saturday acts as a crucial game for Southampton who will be looking to pick up their first league win since Chelsea at the end of August.

With Saints currently sitting 16th in the league standings, points on the road could be vital for morale as we head in to an action packed October.

The hosts will be without Kalvin Phillips, John Stones and Kyle Walker at the Etihad on Saturday.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Hasenhüttl’s side, with Romeo Lavia and Tino Livramento the only long-term absentees.

To follow.

“When you hear Pep [Guardiola] talking after the game that he left players in the dressing room at half-time for being fresh for our game then you know that he wants to come with the best possible squad against us. It's a kind of respect to us.”

Having scored 19 goals already since signing for Manchester City at the beginning of the summer, the 22-year-old has shaken the Premier League in his first season in the top flight of English football. An intense threat in front of goal, Saints’ defenders will have to work overtime to keep the Norwegian at bay.

One of Saints’ deadline day signings and one of four Manchester City players to arrive on the south coast this summer, Hasenhüttl could turn to the 19-year-old winger to add a fresh edge on Saints’ trip to the reigning Premier League champions.
