Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap made his international debut for Germany in Monday night’s entertaining 3-3 draw with England at Wembley.

Introduced in second half stoppage time to make his senior bow for Hansi Flick’s side, the 20-year-old featured in a relatively calm final five minutes after a frantic second half in the capital.

After a goalless first half, Man City’s Ilkay Gündogan broke the deadlock from the penalty spot on 52 minutes before Kai Havertz doubled the lead with a little over 20 minutes remaining.

Facing a dispiriting Nations League defeat, Gareth Southgate’s side rallied and staged a stunning 12-minute comeback.

Galvanised by Luke Shaw’s strike, substitute Mason Mount levelled up the score, before Harry Kane looked to have struck the winner from the penalty spot inside the final 10 minutes.

However, a final twist saw Chelsea’s Havertz capitalise on a Nick Pope error to force a share of the spoils, in a game which saw Saints captain James Ward-Prowse miss out on a spot in the Three Lions’s matchday squad.

Elsewhere, Moussa Djenepo endured a frustrating evening with Mali, as The Eagles’s friendly clash with Zambia had to be called off due to inclement weather after the game was initially suspended.
