After last week’s trip to Derby County was called off due to the passing of Her Majesty the Queen it’s been 21 days since Saints last played in Premier League 2.

Their last outing in the competition came at home to a talented Norwich City side, who cancelled out Jake Vokins’ opener to come away with a point from Snows Stadium.

With last weekend’s scheduled trip to West Brom also called off, Leeds are coming into this game off the back of a dominant performance at home to Nottingham Forest.

Goals from Charlie Allen, Darko Boateng Gyabi, Sonny Perkins, Alfie McCalmont and Max Jimmy Dean secured a 5-1 victory at their training ground.

Elland Road provides the stage for Friday night’s return to Premier League 2 football for Dave Horseman’s side.

Saints and Leeds last faced each other during the 2018/19 Premier League Cup run, the first meeting coming in early October at Staplewood Campus.

Goals from Michael Obafemi and Callum Slattery secured a 2-1 win for Saints, either side of a strike from Kun Mihaylov.

The return fixture came at the end of January; goals from Josh Sims and Marcus Barnes were not enough to secure victory at Tadcaster Albion as the hosts ran out 3-2 winners.

“We’re eager to get back to action as soon as possible,” said Horseman, “Norwich gave us a real good test last time out and Leeds will be no different.

“It’s at Elland Road, there’ll be loads of Leeds fans there, I think they’re calling on some first-team lads as well.

“These are the tests we want. We’ve done well so far this season but these are the games that show if you’re ready for that next step.

“It’ll be difficult game but I’m sure if we do the things we know we can do, play in the right way, we’ll be fine.”
