Saints return to Barclays Women’s Championship action on Sunday as they take on Lewes at the Dripping Pan.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side will be hoping to put their first three points on the board after their opening day defeat to Charlton Athletic at St Mary’s.

Emily Simpkins struck from the spot to give the Addicks their opening goal of the campaign, with Katie Wilkinson going closest for Saints in the first half from distance.

Saints gifted Charlton their second in a slow start in the second half, allowing Mel Johnson to slot one under Kayla Rendell from close range.

Rendell was on hand to deny Charlton their third however, saving a second penalty midway through the second half.

Lewes put a point on the table in their first game of the season, holding relegated Birmingham City to a 0-0 draw at St Andrew’s Stadium.

Scott Booth’s side will be looking to go one better as they welcome Saints to home territory at the Dripping Pan.

TICKET NEWS
Tickets are available to purchase from the Lewes FC website, as well as on the day at The Dripping Pan.

PREVIOUS MEETING
The two sides met relatively recently in a pre-season friendly, with a 0-0 stalemate as the final result.

MANAGER’S NOTES
“We took positives from the Charlton game and have addressed what we could have perhaps done better during training this week.

“Lewes are a more familiar opponent for us, we’ve had plenty of tightly contested games against them and Sunday will be no different.

“They got themselves a good result on the opening weekend with a draw against relegated Birmingham City, but we just have to go there and play our game.

“The girls know what they have to do and all want to get our first points on the board.”
