After a fantastic season in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier which saw Saints top the table, Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side have one more fixture which could see them promoted to the FA Women’s Championship.

Saints booked their place in the play-off in stylish fashion, after beating Portsmouth 2-0 at St. Mary’s, cheered on by a bumper crowd. A dominant performance from the Saints and goals from Sophia Pharoah and Lucia Kendall either side of half-time saw the side secure the Southern title and lift the trophy.

A quick turnaround for the Saints saw them in action again less than a week later, in search of more silverware, this time taking on Huddersfield Town in the National League Cup. A dress rehearsal for the play-off - a one-off game against a somewhat unknown in a Northern side - with Saints coming away with an impressive 3-0 win courtesy of an Alisha Ware opener and a brace from Lucia Kendall.

Wolves have had a similarly impressive season in the National League Northern Premier, winning 18 of their 24 fixtures, and losing just one. Their most recent result came in the Birmingham FA County Cup, seeing off Black Country rivals West Brom with a 4-1 scoreline to lift the trophy.

MANAGER'S NOTES

“They’re a very good side,” said Spacey-Cale. “They won their division and were quite dominant in that. They’ve got some really experienced and good-quality players.”

“They’ve also got that emotional tag that their coach isn’t going to be there as he’s away.”

“The fans have been magnificent and we keep talking about them being the twelfth player on the pitch. The decibels have just gone up over the course of the season, and there’s definitely a respect from the players for those supporters. There’s one last push now on the 21st, to be there, be loud, be rowdy and really be that twelfth player on the pitch for us.”
