Ché Adams has been ruled out of Southampton's trip to Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening, while there are also doubts over fellow strike partners Adam Armstrong and Armando Broja.

Both Armstrong and Broja were unable to complete the full 90 minutes against Arsenal on Saturday, although Ralph Hasenhüttl has confirmed that neither are likely to be long-term absentees.

The midweek trip to Selhurst Park may yet come too soon for all three forward players, but the manager is confident that there are still goals within the squad, and it will mean finding creative solutions to the gaps in attack.

Speaking directly about the injury list, he said: "This affects every team in the moment. We have to find good alternatives in the moment in order to be successful.

"The injury [to Armstrong] is not too serious, it looks good. Both couldn't train today, we'll have a look if it's too early on Wednesday. We don't know it yet, but it doesn't look too bad.

We have players that can score goals. This is something we need to work on, definitely. Sometimes the last action is not good enough, not creative enough. But we often create a lot of chances.

For me, it's always a tough race until the end. The Premier League over Christmas time is a very important and intense term, we have to be ready for the tough challenges that are coming up.

On Adams, he added: "I think for him still not 100 per cent clear how long it will take, but definitely not available for the Wednesday game."
