Moi Elyounoussi will be forced to sit out of Southampton's Carabao Cup trip to Stamford Bridge in the week as he recovers from a minor operation on his hand.

The forward will have the procedure today [Monday] and will consequently need a couple of day's rest, the manager has confirmed, but is likely to be available for Saturday's trip to Watford.

Long-term absentee Jack Stephens remains sidelined, while Chelsea loanee Armando Broja is unavailable to face his parent club.

On Elyounoussi, Hasenhüttl remarked: “He will have his operation on Monday.

“He needs to have it [to recover]. He will miss the Chelsea game, but this is normal. He needs to have two or three days’ rest before he can train again.”
