It was another dominant afternoon for Saints last-time-out, with Keynsham Town put to the sword at Snows Stadium a week ago.

The scoring got under way after just three minutes, with Laura Rafferty scoring her first for the club before Phoebe Williams added a second on 27 minutes.

Fans in attendance had to wait until the second half for the scoring to resume; Milly Mott, Lucia Kendall, Sophia Pharoah and an Ella Pusey hat-trick rounding off a third 9-0 victory of the season.

Cardiff also enjoyed as big win last weekend, winning 4-0 at home to Hounslow at the CCB Centre for Sporting Excellence.

Goals from Ellie Sargent and a Cori Williams hat-trick helped move City to ten points in the league table, with three wins, one draw and four defeats from eight games.

LAST MEETING

The two sides last met during the 2019/20 FA Cup run, as National League South West side Saints travelled to Wales in early January.

Cardiff took the lead after nine minutes, Jasmine Turner scoring from three yards out after a low ball by Kylie Nolan.

It only took eight minutes for Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side to respond, however; Pusey set up by Ella Morris’ solo run from inside her own half before squaring it to her forward who made no mistake.

The second half was dominated by Saints, who made their pressure count just three minutes in with Kirsty Whitton’s 48th minute strike that would prove to be the winner.

MANAGER’S NOTES

“We’re under no illusions that we’ve started really well,” said Spacey-Cale. “But we’ve got some real challenges to come.

“This is a big game against Cardiff back here at Snows Stadium. The crowd last week were fantastic and we’d love to get another big crowd here this week to really push these girls.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale during last week's game at Snows Stadium.

“Coming up we have a few teams that will be up there at the end of the season. But we have to prepare for those games like we would everyone else.

“Be confident in ourselves, but we can’t be as wasteful in front of goal as we won’t get as many chances in front of goal in those games.”
