Broja nets first Albania goal in vital win

Armando Broja’s first senior international goal earned Albania a vital win over Hungary to boost their World Cup qualification hopes.

Introduced in the 78th minute with the deadlock yet to be broken, the 19-year-old latched onto Odise Roshi’s pass to power his way into the box and drive a venomous strike into the bottom corner.

Netting with just three minutes remaining, Broja’s strike secured all three points for Edoardo Reja’s side, who now sit in third place in Group I behind leaders England and second-placed Poland.

Poland were able to leapfrog Albania with an emphatic 7-1 win over San Marino in Serravalle, with Southampton’s Jan Bednarek an unused substitute after playing the full 90 minutes in victory over Albania on Thursday.
