Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side have made the perfect start to life in National League Southern Premier, confirmed by their third win from three against Chichester & Selsey on Wednesday.

Ella Pusey’s double strike either side of the break cemented a 2-0 win away from home, that could have been more if the possession stats were anything to go by.

Sunday’s opposition Gillingham have had a mixed bag as far as their start to the season goes.

After opening day defeat at Oxford United, the Gills bounced back with a 2-0 home win over Hounslow but were beaten 3-0 by Ipswich Town at home on Wednesday night.

Spacey-Cale spoke of the importance of keeping the consistency going after her side’s win at Chichester, something they’ll be hoping to do on Sunday.

“It’s going to be another tough one,” she said, “we’ve got to be prepared for teams that are going to give us problems to solve, whether that’s the low block or the medium block.

“We’ve got to concentrate on what we do really well but also be aware of the dangers that Gillingham will pose. They held Ipswich for quite a long time last-time-out.

“Each team we face will give us different problems. We have to concentrate on us but I keep going back to this ruthless mentality. We have to have that mental strength to go into games and to fight."
