After claiming a 1-0 victory over Levante on Wednesday, Saints return to St Mary’s with the hopes of making it four out of four pre-season victories.

Kyle Walker-Peters's goal was the difference in the week, as Saints edged out a victory over their Spanish opponents.

With just a week to go until Saints face Everton on the opening day of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign, Hasenhüttl will be looking to see his players end pre-season on a high.

Athletic Club finished the 2020/21 season four places above Wednesday’s opponents Levante in La Liga.

Marcelino’s side also reached the 2020/21 Copa del Rey final, ultimately losing 4-0 to Barcelona.

It’s been a mixed start to pre-season for the Spanish outfit, who have won two and lost two of their friendly fixtures so far.

Both clubs have added new faces to their ranks ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Saints have acquired a pair of promising full-backs; 23-year-old Romain Perraud and teenager Tino Livramento, who signed a five-year deal on Monday after being named Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Year last season.

Theo Walcott also commited his future to Saints after spending last season on loan at St Mary's.

For Athletic Club, the 2021/22 season sees the return of Iñigo Córdoba, Kenan Kodro and Daniel Vivian from their loan spells at Alavés, Valladolid and Mirandés respectively.

They have also signed Real Sociedad B player Alex Petxarroman on a free transfer.
