Jannik Vestergaard set up a mouth-watering semi-final meeting with England at EURO 2020, as Denmark edged past Czech Republic 2-1 in Baku.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Thomas Delaney headed home an early corner, as the Danes dominated the first half of the quarter-final clash.

Vestergaard played a key role in the second goal shortly before half-time, sliding a clever pass in behind the defence for Joakim Maehle, who superbly crossed on the run with the outside of his right foot for Kasper Dolberg to convert at the far post.

Czech Republic talisman Patrik Schick scored his fifth goal of the tournament to draw level with Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for the Golden Boot, as the underdogs pulled one back just after the interval.

The Danes were made to work for their victory, but Vestergaard and the rest of the backline held firm to see the job through.

The win means Denmark now face England at Wembley on Wednesday night, with the victors up against Italy or Spain in Sunday's final.
