Ralph Hasenhüttl will mark his 100th game in charge of Southampton when he takes his team to Sheffield United on Saturday, and, for all the ups and downs he has experienced in that time, the Saints boss says he has enjoyed every moment of the journey.

Hasenhüttl was appointed at St Mary's in December 2018 and is currently approaching the end of his second full season as manager of the club.

For himself, it is a new experience to have travelled so far with the same team, and, as he reaches the century mark, he has been reflecting on how pleased he has been to do so.

"I think this is the first time I made 100 games for one team," he said. "Normally I stopped earlier and moved to the next level, but when you're on the highest level, in the Premier League, then you are happy to get the chance to be a manager of a Premier League club.

"I must say, we couldn't celebrate every game, but I enjoyed every game and it was a big pleasure for me to be on the sideline for this team so far, and, although we have not always had easy times, I must say I have enjoyed every minute to be here."
