Southampton FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of striker Emily Kraft from Lewes FC Women subject to FA approval.

The 21-year-old German-Irish international spent her youth career in Germany, spending time at SV Concordia Gernsheim and RSV Germanie Pfungstadt before joining FFC Frankfurt’s set-up when she was 14-years old.

Rising through the ranks at Frankfurt, Kraft also represented Germany at Under-15 and Under-16 level, before committing to the Republic of Ireland at Under-17s for which she qualifies on her mother’s side.

Scoring four goals on her debut for the Republic of Ireland Under-17s against Albania, Kraft was then called up for her first senior cap in January 2019, starting against Belgium.

Lewes FC Women became the striker’s first club outside of Germany in July 2022, where she made 15 appearances for the Rooks and scored three goals, including a header at St Mary’s.

On making the move down the South Coast to Saints, Kraft commented:

“I’m buzzing to be here!

“It’s a really good club and I’m so happy to take my next steps here.

“With all the ambitions and what they strive for, I just think it’s a really good club and that we can have a lot of success this season!”

Bolstering her side with another forward option, Head Coach Marieanne Spacey-Cale remarked:

“Emily caused us problems last year, playing for Lewes.

“She’s a great central striker but can play along the line as well.

“We’re excited with her coming in - a different type of player - who’s committed to helping make us successful next season.”
