The Saints Academy is about more than growing talented footballers – it’s about developing well rounded people. And as part of that, it’s important we provide education opportunities for our young players to learn about a range of issues including climate change.

One way we do that is through our Life Skills programme, which is supported by the Premier League. As part of our Life Skills programme our young players have access to education courses as well as learning about topics such nutrition, finance and diversity and inclusion.

Recently as part of our sustainability strategy, the Halo Effect and ahead of Green Football Weekend 2024, Football For Future joined us to deliver environmental education workshops to first and second year scholars in our Academy.

Football For Future is a team of not-for-profit climate experts and sustainability leaders, working with people and organisations across football to reframe the climate conversation through the universal language of the beautiful game.

Tash Patel is our Assistant Academy Director she said:"I take immense pride in steering our players towards excellence on and off the pitch. Our Life Skills programme, generously supported by the Premier League, helps us educate players around the importance of sustainability and the role they can play as ambassadors for a more sustainable football future. These players will be the ones to inspire the next generation of fans to embrace green sustainability so it's important we give them the right tools to be able to do so."

Watch the video below to see how the workshops went, including highlights from the Academy players’ cookalong:
