Saints fans got a first glimpse this week of the brand new 2021/22 home kit, produced by hummel – find out more about the inspiration behind the kit’s design.
To mark 20 years since the club moved from The Dell to St Mary’s, the new season’s kit is inspired by the last kit worn at The Dell during the 2000/01 season.
The new shirts see a return of the club’s iconic red and white stripes, accompanied by a unique neckline featuring smart black detailing and the famous hummel chevrons down each sleeve - accompanied by a classic Saints combination of black shorts and white socks.
This season’s kits have been created with sustainability in mind too – each shirt is made using Eco8 material, a high-tech polyester made from up to eight recycled plastic bottles.
The shirt is a celebration of the club’s DNA with references to both The Dell and St Mary’s included within the design.
Inside the collar, fans will find an outline graphic of both stadiums while the back of the shirt features a tribute to Southampton’s 20th year playing at St Mary’s.
Finally, the stand names from both grounds are featured on the inner back hem, bringing together the past and present homes of the club.
Fans can pre-order the new kit online until Wednesday 16th June, with adult shirts available at £55, junior shirts at £45, and replica mini kits for toddlers and infants available from £35, featuring full detailing from the player-issue shirts.
