Scienza doing "everything possible" to be fit for Stoke
Tonda Eckert praised the club's medical staff as he confirmed a positive squad update following Sunday's south coast derby, ahead of this weekend's trip to Stoke.
With minimal updates following the physical battle at Fratton Park, Eckert issued "a big compliment to the medical staff" in his press conference at Staplewood.
"I think if you look at the moment, the teams we are facing and the list of injuries they have, the list is a lot longer than ours.
"I think we are at 96% availability which is outstanding for the amount of games we are playing, so I think everyone in here is doing an excellent job on that and if we are progressing at the same availability that allows us to have a smaller squad size."
Goalscorer Leo Scienza was forced off in the second half on derby day, but Eckert shared that the Brazilian will be aiming to be fit for the trip to Stoke as the treatment room is a quiet place at the moment.
"[Leo] looks good, he is desperate to help the team. The image came back fine, he will train separate from the group but we are very positive between him and us we will make everything possible to have him on the pitch on Saturday.
"Mads [Roerslev] is back in training, there is an idea of him playing for the Under-21s on Friday against Chelsea to get some match minutes. We still need to assess exactly how the next few days go but he is working his way back in.
"It is quite empty down in the basement at the moment, that doesn't mean there isn't anything to do but it is positive and again compliments to the medical staff because it's not to take for granted that we have all the players available at the moment."
