For the final time this season Saints are on the road in Premier League 2, for the second of the double header against Everton.

Last Sunday’s meeting with the Toffees ended in a comprehensive win for the visitors at St Mary’s stadium.

Goals from Nathan Broadhead, Charlie Whitaker, Stanley Mills and susbtitutes Sean McAllister and Thomas Cannon cemented a dominant three points for Everton.

The result lifted them into the top six, just a point behind Manchester United in fifth.

Saints will be hoping to improve on their last visit to Everton, where the hosts won 8-2 at the end of August 2019.

Dave Horseman reflected on a difficult afternoon last Sunday, whilst also looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead for his youthful side.

“Everton had pace and showed their quality going forward, they were well organised and very physical against the ball.

“Their standout players also played their part, and it will be the same test on Friday night.

“Our young group need to move the ball quicker and work within the spaces that they're allowed. We always want to challenge the players and this is the perfect opportunity.”
