Bruno Lage has had an impressive start to his first season at Wolves, having already picked up 28 points from 19 games.

The hosts haven’t lost since December 11 where they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Manchester City, having claimed victory over Manchester United since then.

It’s been a positive start to 2022 for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men as they secured progression to the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup before claiming a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Brentford in midweek.

Just four points separate 11th place Saints and 8th place Wolves with everything to play for heading into Saturday’s tie.

Long term absentees Pedro Neto, Jonny Otto and Yerson Mosquera remain out for Wolves, with Hwang Hee-chan also absent for the hosts.

Both sides have a player at the Africa Cup of Nations with Romain Saiss and Moussa Djenepo representing Morocco and Mali respectively.

Saints are boosted by the return of Kyle Walker-Peters and Thierry Small from Covid, while Moi Elyounoussi and Theo Walcott are still isolating.

Will Smallbone and Tino Livramento remain absent for Hasenhüttl’s side through injury.

To follow.

“They are a very tough team to break down and have some unbelievable defensive work going on. We lost to them at St Mary’s and we know what they do well. We just have to be better against it this weekend.”

After netting a brace against Sheffield United in the Emirates FA Cup last weekend, Podence will be looking to take that momentum into the league. Though a consistent performer, the Portugese star is yet to net in the league in the 2021/22 season.

A constant threat, the Albanian youngster remains Southampton’s top goal scorer this season and continues to impress in both league and cup competitions.
