It’s been a difficult period for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men, who fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last time out in the league.

Saints' last home game resulted in a dramatic 2-1 win over Chelsea, with first-half goals from Adam Armstrong and Roméo Lavia the difference at St Mary's.

Everton are currently on their longest unbeaten run under Frank Lampard, having won once and drawn four times in their last five Premier League outings.

Buoyed by their victory at West Ham last time out, the Merseyside outfit will be looking to work their way up the table on their visit to St Mary’s on Saturday.

Romeo Lavia and Tino Livramento remain out for Saints, with Hasenhüttl hinted he could make changes to the starting XI as players return from the international break.

Positive news for the visitors as Jordan Pickford returns from injury in between the sticks, though Frank Lampard will be without Nathan Patterson, Mason Holgate, Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina and Andros Townsend.

“I say no, not more than any other day when I work with my team. The biggest pressure is the pressure I put on myself, to deliver the best possible work. It is enough. If you want to make a good job, the biggest pressure comes from yourself.”

“We've worked very hard with the players and felt we deserved a bit more in that first block of games. It's really important now that we work and if we can get a result against Southampton that will back it up and show progress.”

Featuring in both of Scotland’s Nations League games over the international break, Adams will look to further his tally as top goal scorer for Saints this season when Everton visit St Mary’s.

Having netted his first goal for Everton since his move from Brighton last time out in the league, the Frenchman will be looking to score in successive games in the league for the first time since December 2021.
