Mali suffer penalty shootout heartache

Moussa Djenepo converted from the spot but couldn't prevent Mali suffering penalty shootout defeat at the hands of Equatorial Guinea in the AFCON Last 16.

Goalless after 120 minutes of action, the Saints winger was emphatically on target during the shootout, but couldn't prevent The Eagles losing 6-5.

Djenepo, who returned from suspension at Limbe Stadium, was introduced after 70 minutes of normal time but couldn't help his country find a goal despite a lively display.

Forced into the lottery of a shootout, Falaye Sacko missed the deciding effort from 12 yards to send Guinea through and end Djenepo's involvement in this year's tournament.
