Lionesses to make St Mary's return

Southampton Football Club is proud to announce it will once again be welcoming England’s Lionesses to St Mary’s, as it hosts their FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier against North Macedonia next month.

The match, which will take place on Friday 17th September (7pm kick-off), will mark the beginning of the Sarina Wiegman era for the national team, who last visited the city in 2018 for a goalless draw with Wales.

It will be Wiegman’s first game in charge following her appointment last September and will also represent the start of England’s qualifying journey for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The two sides are yet to face each other in a women’s international and have the reverse fixture scheduled for Friday 8th April in North Macedonia.

England are also alongside Austria, Latvia, Luxembourg and Northern Ireland in group D of the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign.

Following the match in Southampton, the Lionesses will conclude their September camp with a trip to Luxembourg with the exact venue still to be confirmed.

Tickets for the match will go on sale exclusively to England Supporters Travel Club and My England Football members from 10am on Thursday 12th August before general sale begins from midday on Friday 13th August. To find out more about My England Football
