Tonda Eckert shared that Caspar Jander remains the only absentee ahead of Southampton's first home game of the Sky Bet Championship season.

With Saints aiming for an instant response when they host Stoke City on Saturday afternoon, they will have no fresh injury concerns despite a physical opening day against Watford.

The 23-year-old midfielder is still out of action for the contest, but isn't too far away from a return after making "good progress" according to Eckert.

"Unfortunately [Caspar] is not available for tomorrow," Saints' Head Coach confirmed.

"It's going to take a couple of days longer but hopefully not too long. I'm hoping for some point next week, if that is midweek or towards the weekend, he is making some good progress but for tomorrow it would be too much of a risk.

"I think we've come though pre-season quite well. We had Caspar in the first few weeks, but the rest of the squad looks good."
