Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl praised the attitude of his side following their point against Premier League leaders Arsenal at St Mary’s Stadium.

The visitors stormed into a 1-0 lead thanks to Granit Xhaka’s 11th minute strike, but Saints managed to stay in the game until the break.

Stuart Armstrong earnt his side a deserved reward on minute 65, set up by Moi Elyounoussi and slotting past Aaron Ramsdale with what sealed a point.

“I’m very proud of the lads for what they’ve done today,” said Hasenhüttl, “even after the first goal where we conceded early, we came back in the second half and did a really good job.

“The belief was there, the attitude was fantastic today. We made a lot of changes because of injured players, but we came out of it quite strong.

“I must say congratulations to the guys, they delivered what we wanted from them. This was the key to staying in the game, staying alive.

“It was a super run from Stu [Armstrong], after a super run from Moi [Elyounoussi] who had a brilliant game today. Him and Romain [Perraud], both wingers were involved in it. It’s a beautiful goal.”
