Ellie Brazil wins Women's Fans' Player of the Season
Ellie Brazil has been crowned Southampton FC Women's First Team Fans’ Player of the Season.
The influential forward received 13% of the tightly-contested supporters' vote, with runner-up Mary Bashford (11%) narrowly finishing above captain Atlanta Primus (10%) in third place, as hundreds of fans made their selection on the Saints app.
Brazil finished as the club's second-top goalscorer with 8 goals in 24 games, along with four assists, in a season that included a memorable St Mary's hat-trick against Crystal Palace back in February.
The 27-year-old established herself as a fan favourite in her debut campaign at the club, complete with a customary chant that could be heard in the stands up and down the country.
On winning the supporters' vote, Brazil said: “Thank you so much for voting for me as your Fans' Player of the Season! Everything [the fans] have done this year for us girls and the team hasn't gone unnoticed or unappreciated - whether it's been at St Mary's, the Silverlake, or up and down the country, the amount they've travelled to support us has been insane.
"It's a lovely award to receive and I'm really grateful. I can't wait to see you all again next season, and we go again!"
