Cyle Larin will join fellow Southampton striker Ross Stewart at this summer’s World Cup after being named in Canada’s final 26-man squad for the tournament on home soil.

Jesse Marsch’s side are one of three host nations, along with USA and Mexico, and will play all three of their group matches in Canada.

Whilst Stewart’s Scotland call-up ended a four-year exile from international football, Larin is a regular for his country, racking up 30 goals in 88 caps since his debut in 2014.

Larin’s January loan move to St Mary’s proved to be the catalyst his season needed, and the striker will head to the World Cup as a man in form after scoring eight goals in 16 Championship appearances – only nine of which were starts.

Canada, like Scotland, will hope to make history by progressing from the group stage for the first time ever.

The co-hosts are in Group B with fixtures against Bosnia and Herzegovina (Friday 12th June, 8pm BST), Qatar (Thursday 18th June, 11pm BST) and Switzerland (Wednesday 24th June, 8pm BST).
