Stewart named in Scotland World Cup squad
Southampton striker Ross Stewart has been named in Scotland’s final 26-man squad for the World Cup.
The in-form marksman, who has eight goals in his last 16 appearances, has timed his return to the international fold to perfection, earning his first call-up in four years.
Stewart has 11 goals for the season, including the opener against Arsenal in Saints’ memorable Emirates FA Cup quarter-final triumph and a crucial equaliser in the play-off semi-final second leg against Middlesbrough.
Twice capped in his Sunderland days, Stewart made his Scotland debut in June 2022 but has not featured in a squad since.
Now the 29-year-old will hope to make his mark on the world stage, with Scotland set to face Haiti (Sunday 14th June), Morocco (Friday 19th June) and Brazil (Wednesday 24th June) in Group C, seeking to reach the knockout stage for the first time in their history.
