Bednarek a doubt

Ralph Hasenhüttl has said that Jan Bednarek is the only doubt for Saturday's home clash with Fulham, after an ankle problem forced his early withdrawal from Tuesday night's win over Crystal Palace.

The defender suffered a knock on his heel, which has meant he's been unable to train this week, but the manager wasn't able to confirm whether that renders him unavailable for Saturday's meeting with Fulham.

Striker Danny Ings returned to action with a bang in the week, scoring twice before allowing for Michael Obafemi to gain some vital match minutes, while Ryan Bertrand and Oriol Romeu remain out.

"Ryan Bertrand and Ori are still out," Hasenhüttl confirmed. "Long-term injuries also. But I think that is it.

"Jan Bednarek has a little problem with his ankle. Last game he got a hit on his heel. He hasn't trained since the last game. So he has a little problem."

Speaking about the news this week that Bertrand will be departing the club upon the conclusion of his contract in the summer, he added: "He was here for seven years. Like always in football some things come to an end. He's done a great job for this club. He's starting something new now. We will replace him in the summer.

"It's normal in football to start new things, and if we have the chance to bring someone in during the summer, a younger Ryan Bertrand if you want, then we will."
