Southampton FC Women's captain Atlanta Primus has been honoured for her work in the community with Saints Foundation and named as our PFA Community Champion for 2025/26.

The Women’s First Team captain received this season's PFA Community Champion Award, in recognition of her outstanding commitment to supporting Saints Foundation and empowering young women and girls across the city.

Throughout the season, Atlanta has demonstrated a genuine dedication to using her platform for positive change and, after hearing the Foundation’s plans at the start of the season, she proactively approached staff with an idea to engage young girls from hard-to-reach communities.

This initiative led to the co-creation of Ignite Potential, developed in partnership with the Foundation and three former Women’s Team captains, Rosie Parnell, Shannon Sievwright and Kirsty Whitton.

Ignite Potential is a Saints Foundation project designed to empower girls aged 11–16 who face barriers to opportunity, helping them build confidence, leadership skills, and future pathways.

Thanks to Atlanta’s leadership and advocacy, the project secured £25,000 in funding from the PFA and Premier League, enabling the Foundation to launch a transformative project designed to inspire confidence, ambition, and opportunity for girls who need it most.

Atlanta has remained fully involved from the outset, meeting programme cohorts, offering flexible support, and ensuring the girls feel seen, valued, and encouraged. Her ongoing presence has already made a lasting difference to those taking part.

In addition to her work with Ignite Potential, Atlanta represented Saints Foundation at its recent fundraising dinner, where she championed the charity’s mission with passion and authenticity.

Beth Osbourne, who heads up the Gender Equality work at Saints Foundation, said: “Atlanta has been an incredible partner to our Gender Equality work this season, her passion for creating opportunities for girls shines through in everything she does.

"Ignite Potential wouldn’t exist without her leadership and belief in what young women can achieve. She has inspired girl she’s met, and this award is a truly deserved recognition of her commitment.”

Maheta Molango, PFA CEO said: “We know from our work with players that they feel passionately about using their influence in positive ways to drive change in their communities. Our PFA Community Champions have shown incredible dedication to community engagement projects over the season and it’s right that they are celebrated for the impact they’ve had."

Saints Foundation and Southampton FC congratulate Atlanta on this thoroughly deserved recognition. Her leadership, compassion, and commitment to community impact embody the values of the club and continue to inspire those around her.
