Stuart Armstrong reacts to another home victory for Southampton on Saturday afternoon, his goal setting his side on their way to a 2-0 victory over Everton.

After a first-half performance which warranted a goal, Saints finally got their breakthrough on 52 minutes as Armstrong rolled the ball under Jordan Pickford for his second goal in as many home games.

The pressure continued before Shane Long’s first touch, via his head, confirmed the three points with six minutes to play.

It continues impressive Saints’ home record this season, with only one defeat this season.

“We’ve had a very good week,” said Armstrong, “and sometimes when you have a good week with a lot of games the next one is often difficult.

“So to show a good performance again today was very important, which I think we did, and every game in the Premier League is tough.

“Very happy with the goal, first of the season it’s been a while, and a good performance I think.

“It’s a great record [at home]. There was a time when our home record wasn’t the best and we were much better on the road.

“Trying to improve our form at home has definitely been in our minds this season and we’re in good fettle so far.”
