Adams on "top performance"

Matchwinner Ché Adams hailed the team's belief following Southampton's win at AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Looking to build on the point gained at home to West Ham on Sunday, Saints drew first blood after just nine minutes; Adams heading home an inch-perfect Romain Perraud cross.

This proved to be the winner, thanks in part to a string of fine Gavin Bazunu saves and what Adams described as "huge belief in what we're doing."

"It’s been a hard few weeks," said the Scotland international, who netted his fifth goal of the season on Wednesday evening. "We've not been getting the result we wanted but I think we deserved it today.

"That early goal gave us huge confidence and belief in what we’re doing. Especially as a striker to score that early just sets the tone for the rest of the game.

"It gives you that extra buzz and feel for the game. We held on and that’s the most important thing.

"We’ve got a lot of young players, a lot of new players and it takes time to gel, but it was a really top performance today."
