Saints make a long awaited return to St Mary’s following the winter break as they take on Lewes in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side will be looking to extend their unbeaten league run which has remained intact since August, while Lewes will be looking to build on their recent good form.

A mid-season friendly win against Women’s Super League side Brighton and Hove Albion will have boosted confidence further in the Saints camp going into the fixture, as will the tight defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Continental Cup before Christmas.

Lewes’ last outing saw them comprehensively beat FA Women’s National League side London Bees 5-0 in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup, while their last league game saw Crystal Palace take all three points from the Dripping Pan Stadium.

Saints make their return to league action in the red and white home strip.

It was a nail biting comeback for Saints last time they faced Lewes at the Dripping Pan, as a first Championship goal from Ella Morris and a neat finish from Laura Rafferty saw the sides share the spoils.

“We had a tough match with Lewes in our second game of the season, and we don’t expect it to be any easier this time round.

“We’ve built up some good momentum in the league, but we’ll need to keep the level high and start as we mean to go on.

“It’ll be great to be back at St Mary’s after the winter break. Being back in front of fans will be a boost for the girls and they'll be looking forward to a competitive game.”
