Thanks to the amazing generosity of our supporters, our ‘Share The Joy’ Christmas Appeal has raised over £5,000 – vital funds that we will use to help Southampton and its communities.

This Christmas, we asked you to help us Share The Joy – donating whatever you can during these challenging times to ensure that people needing our support this winter received it.

With more than 800 entries into our prize draw, as well as direct donations, we are able to do just that. The incredible total means our regular programmes are strengthened as we enter the new year, and special activities are already spreading some extra joy in the build-up to Christmas.

We launched the appeal with the story of 72-year-old Senior Saint Chris, who spoke about how her self-esteem has been boosted and new friendships have been forged since she started attending sessions several years ago.

Chris and her husband Paul were amongst those who attended our Senior Saints Christmas party last week, where 200 over 60s enjoyed a turkey dinner, party games and a festive singalong all for free – a truly joyful day made possible by the generosity of everyone who donated.

It is estimated that around 35% of Southampton’s older people will have no money left after they pay bills this winter. Your donations ensure we can continue to provide a ‘tea and chat’ after each session to make sure that all participants socialise and enjoy a hot drink in a warm space.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped us Share The Joy this Christmas.
