Saints return to league action after securing progress out of their Under-18 Premier League Cup group two weeks ago.

A strong side that featured the likes of Dom Ballard, Kamari Doyle, Sam Amo-Ameyaw, and Jayden Meghoma, who have all starred at B team level, travelled to Everton and left with a 1-1 draw.

Thanks to the opener from Ballard, that result was enough to advance to the knockout stage with an unbeaten record.

Mikey Harris’ side are now unbeaten in three matches across all competitions, with their 6-1 league victory over Leicester City at the end of October lifting them off the foot of the table.

Arsenal have had mixed fortunes at the start of the 2022/23 season, as they sit in 5th place in the table after seven games.

The Gunners fell to a 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa in their last outing, meaning they have just one win their last four matches.

Unlike Saints, Arsenal were unable to progress from their Under-18 Premier League Cup group with four points not enough to overtake Villa and Newcastle from Group C.

Despite a brace from Jimmy-Jay Morgan, last season’s trip to the capital ended in a 4-2 defeat against an Arsenal side that featured the now-youngest-ever Premier League player, Ethan Nwaneri.

At home in the 2021/22 season, however, Saints’ youngsters rescued a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw thanks to a last-minute penalty from Tommy-Lee Higgs.
