WHICH KIT WILL SAINTS BE WEARING?

Saints will be wearing their blue away kit for their trip to Anfield.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?

Nathan Jones has his first opportunity to show his ambition with Saints, taking charge of his first game after his appointment as manager on Thursday.

Saints go in search of their first victory in the league since a 1-0 win over Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium, with leading goalscorer Ché Adams’s strike the difference on the south coast.

It’s been a busy week for both Liverpool and Saints, with both sides forced to penalties in their respective Carabao Cup ties with League One opposition in midweek.

It’s been a difficult 2022/23 season so far for Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool, currently sitting eighth in the Premier League table with 13 matches played.

Victory over Tottenham last time out in the league could act as a huge boost for the Merseyside outfit, who will be looking to finish on a high before many of their stars represent their nations in Qatar.

TEAM NEWS

Joel Matip and Naby Keita remain a doubt for Liverpool, while Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Arthur Melo are long-term absentees.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Saints, with Juan Larios, Kyle Walker-Peters and Tino Livramento the only absentees.

THE MANAGERS

Jürgen Klopp: To follow.

Nathan Jones: “I’m excited to work with this squad. We’re going to need one or two bits of help, but the philosophy here is to work with young and hungry players. That’s what I have a track record of doing.”

ONES TO WATCH

Darwin Núñez: The Uruguayan international has become increasingly dangerous for the Merseyside outfit this season, with his prowess down the wing a certain threat to the Saints defence.

Roméo Lavia: Easing his way back into first team action, the 18-year-old could provide a vital boost to Saints’ midfield at Anfield as he approaches a return to the starting eleven.
