Due to EFL regulations, we regret to inform supporters that the club will be unable to offer free live commentary of the Carabao Cup match against Sheffield Wednesday.
Saints face their League One opponents at St Mary’s on Wednesday night, in the third round of the competition, with a place in the last 16 on the line.
While the club normally offers free audio commentary of its matches via southamptonfc.com and its mobile app, EFL regulations state that any live commentary on a Premier League club’s services must be behind a paywall if they face an EFL side in the competition.
As a result, we will not be able to make live commentary available via our Matchday Live page for this game. We regret any inconvenience this may cause to fans.
Supporters in the local area will still be able to listen to the match on BBC Radio Solent, while we will have our regular text updates in our Matchday Live centre, as well as coverage across our social media channels. Sheffield Wednesday will also have a paid-for commentary service should fans wish to access this.
