Saints had a near perfect run of results in last season’s Premier League Cup, winning two and losing one of their three games in Group A,. which ultimately meant missing out on that one progression spot by goal difference.

Their last outing came in mid-January, where a Tommy-Lee Higgs double helped Saints to a 3-0 victory at Newcastle. Jimmy-Jay Morgan with the third on 81 minutes.

Derby’s last Premier League Cup outing came at the back end of November; a hat-trick from Malcolm Ebiowei helping to claim a point from a 3-3 draw at home to Chelsea.

County finished third in Group D, behind Chelsea and Blackburn in first and second respectively.

Derby make up one of the three teams Saints will face in this season’s Premier League Cup, drawing one and losing four of their five league games so far

The others include Chelsea, who pushed Saints all the way in the Southern division last season and currently sit sixth in the standings with two wins, one draw and two defeats this campaign.

Everton make up the final team, who sit two places above Derby in 11th of the Northern division with one win and three defeats.
