Djenepo motivated by Saints' support
Moussa Djenepo has thanked the Southampton fans for supporting him since his arrival at the club in 2019, and vowed to continue working hard to bring success to St Mary’s.
The Malian winger, who has signed a three-year contract to extend his Saints stay to 2025, has been reflecting on his career in England to date and sharing his ambitions for the seasons ahead.
Djenepo believes Saints’ new-look squad, which includes 10 summer signings, is gelling together nicely, and the fresh faces have been quick to embrace the team’s hard-working ethos.
“I still learn, and in football we have to learn every day and every year. That’s what I did, to keep running, working hard,” he said.
“I say thanks to all the fans. I really enjoy when I play in front of them with their support. It’s a good motivation for me, the support from them, and I will keep going with hard work to always do my best for them.
“We have a good team with a lot of young players. We want to learn all together. I think the team is a team that works hard – we can feel that in the games and in training. We have to keep going on that way to be better and better in the future.
“We have a lot of new players. We cannot see a big difference that they are new because they adapt quickly in the team and the dressing room, and we feel like we’ve done a lot of years together. This is the most important thing.
“In life you always have some targets. That’s why we work every day. My target is to do my best, the best for the team, and we will see at the end.
“The most important thing is I know everyone trusts in me. I will do the same and keep working hard all the time.”
