Southampton Football Club can confirm that Yan Valery has completed a transfer to French club Angers SCO, subject to international clearance.

The 23-year-old moves back to his home country on a permanent deal, following a seven-year spell at Saints.

Valery joined the club’s Academy in 2015, signing from State Rennais, before making his first-team debut in November 2018, in an EFL Cup tie at Leicester.

It would be the first of 53 senior appearances for Valery during his time at Saints, which featured some memorable moments, including a spectacular goal away to Manchester United and his strike in a 2-1 comeback victory over Tottenham, both in the 2018/19 season.

Valery now joins the Ligue 1 side, where former Southampton player Sofiane Boufal will be a teammate.

The club would like to wish Yan every success for the future and thank him for his efforts during his time as a Southampton player.
