Southampton FC Women are delighted to secure the signing of Welsh international and former Charlton Athletic attacking winger Megan Wynne.

29-year-old Wynne spent over ten years at Watford, progressing from their youth set-up to senior side. While with the Hornets, she spent time out on loan at Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 and 2016, playing under now Charlton boss, Karen Hills.

Wynne signed for Millwall Lionesses in 2016, staying with the then second tier side until 2018 when she re-joined Tottenham.

A spell on loan at Women’s Super League side Bristol City in 2020 was marred by a serious knee injury, and her return to football saw her join Charlton Athletic ahead of the 2021 season in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

The attacking-minded winger also boasts plenty of experience in the international sphere, having represented Wales at youth level before making her senior debut in 2011 and most recently featuring in the Dragons’ UEFA Women’s EURO qualifying campaign.

Wynne is looking forward to a new start, and was enthusiastic about the move from her first visit to Staplewood:

"I came down a few weeks ago and went for a walk with Marieanne around the whole of the training ground. Just seeing the facilities and the ambitions of the club and where they’ve grown from, and after having a few conversations, I knew it was the place for me."
