Despite claiming another point towards their promotion charge last Sunday, Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side will have been frustrated after coming away from the home draw with Bridgwater United.

Ella Pusey gave her side the lead just shy of the hour mark, after her side had dominated the first half in terms of possession and chances.

Bridgwater shocked Snows Stadium with an equaliser on 89 minutes, Jenna Markham tapping in from close range to condemn Saints to successive league draws.

Cardiff faced one of Saints promotion rivals last time out, hosting Ipswich Town and falling to a 3-0 defeat at Ocean Park Arena.

Spectators can continue their fantastic support for Southampton FC Women with a trip to Cardiff City this weekend.

You’ll have to go back to 2020 for the last time these two sides met in competitive action.

Early January of that year saw Saints travel to CCB Centre for Sporting Excellence to face Cardiff in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup third round.

Cardiff took an early lead through Jasmine Turner inside ten minutes, before Pusey levelled the scores on 17 minutes.

The eventual winner came via Kirsty Whitton early into the second half, as Saints progressed to the fourth round.

“We have to go back to the old cliché of working hard this week and making sure we’re in a strong place,” said Spacey-Cale.

“Cardiff is a tough place to go and we’ve got to pick ourselves up from last weekend’s draw.

“We’ll have to have a strong mindset and make sure we tweak a couple of the things that weren’t right against Bridgwater.

“Every week the fans turn up and cheer us on, let’s hope they can continue their support and drive us forward this weekend because we really appreciate it.”
